Restorative dentistry repairs or replaces teeth damaged by decay, cracks, heavy wear, infection, or loss. It also covers restorations that have failed and need attention. Whenever a natural tooth can be saved, that’s usually the better path than removing it.
Preventive care aims to stop problems before they start. Restorative care steps in once a problem already exists.
Restorative dentistry can address:
The right restoration depends on how much natural tooth remains, your oral health, and whether any teeth are missing. Some patients need work on one tooth. Others need a broader plan.

Composite fillings repair small to moderate cavities and blend in with your natural tooth color.

A crown covers a tooth that's cracked, heavily decayed, or weakened after a root canal, restoring its strength and shape.

A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring to the teeth next to the gap.

Full and partial dentures replace multiple missing teeth or an entire arch and are customized to fit your mouth.

An implant replaces a single missing tooth, root and all, and the crown on top functions like a natural tooth.
The right time for restorative care depends on your symptoms, but a few common signs mean it’s worth getting checked out.

Decay weakens tooth structure over time. A small cavity often just needs a filling. Bigger decay may call for a crown instead.

A crack can come from an accident, grinding, or a tooth that was already weak. Treatment depends on where the crack is and how deep it goes, and might mean bonding, a crown, or another restoration.

Years of grinding or general wear can flatten or shorten teeth. Your dentist needs to find the cause first before picking a restoration that will actually hold up.

Ongoing pain can point to decay, infection, or several other causes. An exam is the only way to know if you need a filling, a crown, or root canal treatment.

Bridges, dentures, and implants all replace missing teeth in different ways. Which one fits depends on how many teeth are gone and the condition of what's left, including your gums and jawbone.

Because the practice also handles routine exams and cleanings, problems like a cracked filling or early decay often get caught before they turn into something bigger.
Many patients have stayed with the practice for over a decade, which means the doctors often know a patient’s dental history well before restorative work even comes up.
Often, yes. Fillings, crowns, and other restorations can save a tooth that still has enough healthy structure left.
Bridges, dentures, and implant crowns all replace missing teeth, and your dentist can help you choose based on your situation.
It can. Many restorations, like crowns and composite fillings, are made to match your natural tooth color and shape.
